John M. Gerber
General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Strategic Inititatives
As General Counsel and Executive Vice President of Strategic Inititatives of Lippincott LLC, John brings his extensive professional expertise as an executive manager, corporate attorney and business builder. Prior to joining Lippincott, John worked along side David Taffet in key management roles with a number of their early stage and growth-oriented companies, including MeridianTelesis, a Philadelphia-based co-location services company at which he also served as General Counsel. In addition, John served as Principal and General Counsel for Fossicker Management, the management company for The Fossicker Fund private equity firm, a $100 Million private equity fund in which they were the founding management team.
John has worked closely with Philadelphia’s Commerce Department, serving as Project Director along side the Director of Commerce for the City’s Economic Development Summit and Blueprint strategic planning endeavor, an economic development planning exercise initiated by then Mayor John Street.
Continuing that focus, John now serves as the Board Chair of The Enterprise Center, a business accelerator in West Philadelphia that provides access to capital, capacity building, business education and economic development opportunities to high-potential minority entrepreneurs.
In addition, John continues his private legal work as the founder and principal of Gerber Growth, LLC, a legal services firm that works as part of the management teams of entrepreneurial and growing companies in a role that links him with his other key passion - enhancing the economic development of the Greater Philadelphia region through support of entrepreneurs and growing businesses.
Previously, he served as the Director of Client Services, Legal Services for Resources Global Professionals (NASDAQ: RECN) in Philadelphia, PA, and Princeton, NJ. He also was a Member of Board of Directors, including Chair of the Board and member of the Audit Committee, of a publicly-held retailer of high-end reproduction jewelry through a national chain of 36 stores under the name “Impostors” (then NASDAQ:FAUX).
John’s legal career includes employment with the Philadelphia-based law firms of Blank Rome Comisky & McCauley and Cohen Shapiro Polisher Shiekman and Cohen. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Law, Madison, WI, cum laude, and the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, MI.
